William Burgess

William (Billy) Burgess, 81, of New Hope, AR, died Wednesday, January 11, 2012. He was born April 26, 1930, at Athens, AR, the son of the late Willie and Elva Ralls Burgess. Preceded in death by a son-in- law Doug McWilliams, two brothers and four sisters. He attended Bissell Chapel Community Church. He was a retired member of Athens Volunteer Fire Department and an Army veteran. Mr. Burgess is survived by his wife, Verniece Burgess; son and daughter-in-law, William and Diane Burgess of Glenwood, AR; daughter, Fran McWilliams of DeQueen, AR; son, Waynie Burgess of Athens, AR; daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and David McClane of Nashville, AR; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Jay Gibson of Hatfield, AR; daughter, Jane Burgess of Ashdown, AR; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Michael Allen of Dierks, AR; sixteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Horace Burgess and wife, Mae, of Dierks, AR; sister, Betty Ewart and husband, Bob, of Texarkana, AR; a great number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Friday, January 13, at Mt. Zion Community Church, Athens, with Bros. David McClane and Joe Isham officiating, burial in Athens Cemetery, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home, Nashville.
