Rev. Clyde White

Reverend Clyde Alvin White passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on September 24, 2011 in his home in the New Mount Zion/Bluff Springs community outside of Mineral Springs. He was born on May 30, 1931 to Pinkelton Sylvester White and Joycie Gertrude Steaurt White just outside of McCaskill, AR. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 27 at the funeral home between 6-8:00 PM. Memorial Services for Bro. White will be held at Latimer Funeral Home, Nashville, AR on Wednesday, September 28 at 4:00 PM. The interment will be at Bluff Springs Cemetery on Corn Bridge Road following the memorial. Bro. White served in the Army as a Chaplain's Assistant. On April 23, 1949, he married Ruth Lillian Morgan. He surrendered to preach and was ordained on April 2, 1950. He served as pastor for churches in Arkansas and Texas until he retired December 20, 2009, and had served as a state missionary for the Baptist Missionary Association of Texas. He was a member of New Mount Zion Baptist Church, where he had been a charter member in 1942, and was also his last pastorate when he retired. Bro. White was preceded in death by a stillborn sibling, a brother who died as a child, his mother; Joycie Gertrude Steaurt White, his dad; Pinkelton Sylvester White, two brothers; Levi and Ford, a sister; Dena Roberts and two grandchildren. Bro. White is survived by his wife of over 62 years, Ruth Lillian White, two sisters: Myria Ruth Kennedy of Pocasset, OK, and Emma Lou Frazier of New York Mills, MN, Two daughters and sons-in-law; Sandra and T.J. Willingham currently of Mineral Springs, and Mary and Ron Parker of Belton, TX, two sons and daughters-in-law; Tim and Laura White of Clyde, TX and Al and Angie White of McKinney, TX, 12 grandchildren and 28 great grand children. He was also loved by many dear friends and church members through the year, and found special friendships in Rev. I. V. Hight and lifelong friend Rev. Wendell Swelling.
