Rev Troy Carroll

Rev. Troy Carroll, age 89 of Murfreesboro, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was born December 8, 1929 in England, Arkansas the son of the late Troy Spurgeon and Florence Ella Duncan Carroll. His seventy-two-year career began on Mother's Day in 1947, his message was titled "A Mother's Prayer". He had the privilege of pastoring at many churches over his career which included, 1955 Brownsville Baptist Church, Lonoke, AR, 1955 to 1963 First Baptist Church, Murfreesboro, AR, 1965 to 1969.Grace Temple Baptist Church, Henrietta, TX, 1969 to 1978 Wynd Gate Baptist Church in Elkhart, IN, 1978 to 1992 Baugh Chapel Baptist Church, Austin, AR, 1992 Horatio Baptist Church in Horatio, AR, 2004 Downtown First Baptist Church, Texarkana, 2005 until his last sermon on February 17, 2019 at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, AR. He also served as the children's park director for eleven years at Siloam Springs, taught at Henrietta High School, substituted at Elkhart and Murfreesboro High Schools. He managed the Murfreesboro Apartments from 1992 to 2003. Bro. Carroll met his wife Lois Biddle Carroll in 1951 while at Seminary, they were married on August 26. 1956, Mrs. Lois Carroll precedes him in death, along with three sisters Ella Prude Case, Leota Horton, and Dorothy Wesson. Survivors include two sons Jim Carroll and wife Melody of Melbourne, AR, Tim Carroll and wife Noelle, of Arab, AL; one daughter Cathy Carroll of Murfreesboro, AR; twin brother Roy Carroll and wife Eleanor of Chapel Hill, NC; one sister Mary Lois Rice of Jacksonville, AR; grandchildren Jordan Carroll and wife Natalie, Seth Carroll and wife Julie, Zachary Carroll, Josh Carroll and wife Heather, Ryan Carroll and wife Natalie, Emily Delgado and husband Danny; five great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation will be 12:30 until service time, Friday, July 26, at First Baptist Church in Murfreesboro. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, July 26, at First Baptist Church, with Bro. Don Jones, Bro. Larry Sherman, and Bro. Robby Sherman officiating, burial will follow in Murfreesboro Cemetery, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home in Murfreesboro.
