Purnal Jefferson Tracy III

Purnal Jefferson “Jeff” Tracy III passed away on Thursday, May 9 at age 71.

He was born Aug. 20, 1952, to Mary and Purnal Jefferson Tracy, Jr., in Bellville, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his wife of 48 years, Mary (Warner) Tracy.

Jeff was the father of two children: Purnal Jefferson “P.J.” Tracy IV and Nicole Amy McGilberry. He was also the proud grandfather (or “Shabbadoo,” as they called him) of Christopher Hunter J. McGilberry (wife Jolysse), Matthew Ryan McGilberry, and Austin Michael McGilberry.

Jeff spent much of his working career in quality control management, including a 30-year career at Husqvarna in Nashville as a coordinate measuring machine operator.

The family requests no gifts, but memorials in his name may be made to P.J. Tracy at the Gypsy Underground in Murfreesboro for the proposed dog shelter project.

Visitation services are set for Friday, May 17 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Latimer Funeral Home in Nashville.

Interment is set for Saturday, May 18 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bingen Ozan Cemetery located on Highway 27 northeast of Nashville.
