Peggy Jean Loomis

Peggy Jean (Shope) Loomis, age 95 of Murfreesboro, Arkansas passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024 in Hot Springs, Arkansas.  She was born November 12, 1928 in Okolona, Arkansas the daughter of the late Jeames M Shope and Agnes Rowe Shope.

Mrs. Loomis was a member of the Murfreesboro Church of Christ, National Association of Retired Federal Employee.  She also played a vital role in starting and building the Pike County Archives and Historical Society.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Olen Loomis; three brothers Roy Neal Shope, Donald Shope, and Claude A. Shope, and one sister Bobbie Dean Pennington.

Survivors include her son Royce Loomis and wife Barbara of Hot Springs Village, AR; three grandchildren Rhonda Sullivan and husband Harlan, Robbin Liese and husband Marcus, Richard Loomis and wife Connie; eight great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, as well as a number of friends and extended family.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Murfreesboro Church of Christ, with Tommy Mounts officiating, burial will follow in Delight Cemetery, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home in Murfreesboro.
