Mildred Chapel Glass, age 92, of Odessa, Texas, met her heavenly father on February 2, 2012 in Odessa, TX. She was born on March 4, 1919 in Murfreesboro, Arkansas to Jewel Chapel and Alva (Womack) Chapel. She spent her early life in Nashville, Arkansas, where she graduated with honors from Nashville High School. She received a BA degree from Henderson�s College and MA from George Seabody College, an education division of Vanderbilt University. Her 42 year teaching career started at Corinth in a two room school. She also taught in Nashville and Texarkana, where she met and married Roy Glass, the love of her life. In 1955 they moved to Odessa, TX, where she taught at Burnet Elementary school for twenty-five years. Searching the Chapel and Womack families in the archives in Arkansas, North Carolina, Texas, and Tennessee was one of her hobbies. She also spent time visiting in nursing homes and making clothes for her family. She attended church and Sunday school where ever she lived. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Dewey and John Chapel, sister, Charlie Mae Dunn, brothers-in-law, Maurice Dunn and Raymond Fields, and sister-in-law, Dorothy Chapel. Surviving sisters are Edna Fields and Jo Ann Cade and her husband, Ron Cade; surviving nieces and nephews are Pam Powell, Beth Fields, Laura Day, Susan Syamken, Dan and Mark Chapel, and Ronald Dunn. Special thanks go to good friends, Forrest and Dorothy Goin, caring friends at Sherwood, and Naomi class of the First Baptist Church in Odessa. Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 11, 2012 in Restland Memorial Park in Nashville, AR under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home, Nashville, AR.
