Mattye Jeanne Compton, 83, of Douglas, Georgia, died Saturday, July 16, 2011, following a brief illness. She was born July 2, 1928, in Nashville, AR, to Duffie and Coye Compton. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Douglas, Georgia. She loved her church family and sang in the choir for many happy years. Jean was secretary of her Sunday School Class. Jean graduated from Nashville High School in 1949 and attended Business College in Texarkana, AR-TX .Her work experience throughout her working years was in bookkeeping for several companies. Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents Duffie and Coye Compton of Nashville. She is survived by one sister, Betty Wood and husband, Leon, of El Dorado, AR; three brothers, Bob Compton and wife, Margaret, of Hot Springs, AR, Tom Compton and wife, Sue, of Pitkin LA, Charles Compton of Hot Springs, AR; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Our Family would like to thank Jeanne�s dear friends and caregivers for their dedicated and tender care of her during the illness. We are so grateful for the love and concern.
