Mary Elizabeth Ward Bonnette Shockley, age 83, of Hot Springs, Arkansas died Monday, October 31, 2011. Libby was born July 18, 1928 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to the late Martha Edith Hall Ward and Curtis Ward. Libby grew up in Nashville, Arkansas. She then went on to attend Henderson State Teachers College where she met and married Billy Gene Bonnette, a veteran returning from service in the U.S. Army after World War II. Following her marriage to Billy, she lived in several locations in Western Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma before settling in Hot Springs, raising a daughter and two sons, Carolee, Joe and Bradley. After retiring from the State of Arkansas as a social worker, Libby went back to school and completed a degree in fine arts at Henderson State University. Libby�s artistic talents were displayed in many media formats in various galleries in the Hot Springs area. She was a long-time member of Grand Avenue United Methodist Church in Hot Springs, an active member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority, the Hot Springs Fine Arts Center Hot Springs Artists Guild, and active in the development of the Jackson House and Quapaw House. She was pre-deceased by two husbands, Billy G. Bonnette and Raymond L. Shockley; her parents; a sister, Donna Ward Young; a brother, Kenneth Ward; and a grandson, Benjamin Bonnette. She is survived by one sister, Neva Jo Schesventer of Saint Augustine, Florida; a daughter, Carolee Capp of Tucson, Arizona; two sons, Joe Bonnette of Robbinsville, North Carolina and Bradley Bonnette of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and two beloved caretakers Bertha Osborne and Katherine Burns of Hot Springs. Graveside services will be provided by Latimer Funeral Home of Nashville, AR at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, November 3, at Ozan Cemetery at Bingen, AR. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. to service time at the funeral home. Memorials contributions may be made to the Alzheimer�s Foundation.
