MARY FAYE MERRICK, age 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior August 29, 2013 in Van Buren, Arkansas. Formerly from Nashville, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late Josh and Lynn Nichols. Mary Faye was born on March 4, 1921 in DeQueen, Arkansas. She was married to the late George W. (Billy) Merrick in December 1948. A talented musician, Mary Faye was church organist for the Nashville, First Presbyterian church and then at the First Baptist Church in Nashville. Mary Faye also played the organ for the Latimer Funeral Home in Nashville for many years. She served as church secretary at First Baptist until her retirement. Mary Faye was preceded in death by her brother, Joe B. Nichols. She is survived by her children: Melissa Schaefer and her husband, Dennis, of Russellville, Arkansas; George Merrick and his wife, Laura, of Van Buren, Arkansas; and Melinda Merrick of Austin, Texas. Mary Faye had six grandsons: Andrew Schaefer, Matthew Schaefer, Shawn Lofton, Joshua Merrick, Bradley Merrick, and Zachary Merrick. She had two great grandsons, Arden and Ronin Schaefer. Private graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Nashville Cemetery with Bro. David Blasé officiating. Following the graveside services a public memorial service at 11:00 A.M., at Latimer Funeral Home in Nashville.
