Mary Irene Legate

Mary Irene Legate 81 of Murfreesboro, Arkansas passed on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at St. Joseph Hospital in Hot Springs, Arkansas. She was born on November 26, 1932 in Kirby, Arkansas the daughter of the late Theodore McKinnon and Lora White McKinnon. Mrs. Legate was a member of the Saline Church of Christ, a cattle farmer where she quit raising cattle only in the last few years. She was proud of her twenty years of service at Tyson's, and of her family being pioneers in the poultry business in Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband's James Leslie Hughes, Billy Joe Legate, one sister Glendora Lee, and an infant brother. Survivors include three sons Frank Hughes and wife Betty of Nathan, AR; Fritz Hughes of Brocktown, AR; John D. Legate and wife Crystal of Murfreesboro, AR; a daughter Frances Hughes Lee and husband Joey of Brocktown, AR; two sisters Fern Snelson and Ruby Sillavan both of Cottonshed, AR; a special sister in law Emogene Hughes Martin; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the Latimer Funeral Home Chapel in Murfreesboro, with burial to follow in Brocktown Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday, June 6, 2014 at the funeral home.
