Mary was born on July 3, 1931 in Pike County Arkansas to William A. And Susie E Terry. She was called home on 31 May 2024. She was the only girl in a family of 8 brothers. Three more died of polio as children. The Terry’s were sharecroppers and farmers and moved around southwest Arkansas. Mary graduated from Nashville High School in 1950 and married Jack Craig Hockaday.
Mary was a life long member of the Baptist church and served as Sunday School Teacher, Treasurer and Secretary. Her last membership was with Hickory Street Baptist Church in Texarkana, Arkansas..
Mary had four children and raised her children to love and serve The Lord.
Mary was an active member of Order of Eastern Star, Amaranth, White Shrine of Jerusalem. She served as Grand Matron of Hooks Eastern Star and Royal Grand Matron of Arkansas for Amaranth.
Mary worked for the paper mill in Ashdown from 1967 until she retired in 1994.
Mary is survived by her children Jessie J Coker and Ronnie Koziuk of Bronson Texas , Terry Hockaday of Texarkana Arkansas and Jerry and Yvette Hockaday of Oklahoma City Oklahoma, and brother Joe Terry of Texarkana, 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. Mary was proceeded in death by her husband Jack C Hockaday and oldest child Leeda Sue, daughter-in-law Debra Hockaday, son-in-law Jim Coker and granddaughter Debbie Lynn.
Mary spent her last months at Colonial Pines in San Augustine, Texas where she was a favorite of staff and residents because of her spirit and line of talk.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until service time on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Latimer Funeral Home in Nashville.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 in the Latimer Funeral Chapel in Nashville. Interment will follow in Nashville Cemetery, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home of Nashville.
