Martha M Godwin

Martha Godwin passed away August 26, 2016 in Nashville, Arkansas. She was born on September 23, 1912 in Smetana, Texas to Anton and Annie Merka. She was raised in Bryan, Texas where she spent most of her life. She moved to Arkansas in her later years to live with her son, Neal, and daughter-in- law, Ollie. Martha was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Neal Godwin, Sr., her parents, daughter Barbara Godwin Deforrest, grandson David Deforrest, brothers August, Martin and Anton Merka, sisters Olga Eubanks, Janie Vincent and Mary Dobrovolny. She is survived by one son, Neal Godwin, Jr. and wife, Ollie of Nashville, Arkansas, grandsons Byron and Steven Godwin, great-grandchildren Grayson and Chloe Godwin all of Ft Worth, Texas and one sister Josephine Merka Griswold of Nashville, Arkansas, many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Martha was a homemaker, a loving wife and mother, and friend to many in Bryan, Texas. She was an active member of Northview Baptist Church in Bryan until she was no longer able to live alone.
