Margaret Sue Carroll

October 14, 1920 — January 29, 2012

Sunday morning, January 29, 2012, Sue Carroll left her earthly home of 91 years and went to be with our Lord Jesus. She was born October 14, 1920 in Hopeville, Arkansas to J.W. âœWillâ₝ and Margaret Bass Anthony. Her family moved to Murfreesboro in 1929 where they founded Murfreesboro Lumber Company, which continued as a family business until 1976. In 1939 Sue married the boy who lived across the street, R.B. Bobby Carroll. After WWII ended, they made their home in Murfreesboro and worked as partners in Carroll Building Appliance, CBA Construction Company, and Carroll Farms. After Bobbyâ™s death in 1998 she continued to quietly serve her community in numerous ways. All who knew Granny Sue, as she was known by so many, have no doubt her life was driven by her love for Jesus, her church and her family and serving others. She taught Bible in church in some capacity for seventy years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and all her siblings â" three sisters and seven brothers. A dedicated wife, mother, and grand-mother, she leaves a legacy to her three children, Tony Carroll and Bruce Smith of Houston, Texas, Dick Carroll and wife, Diane and Margaret Carroll Byrd and husband, Tom of Murfreesboro. She is adored by her 5 grandchildren, Dana Carroll Couch, Anna Carroll Oâ™Neal, and husband, Jay, Gina Carroll Golden and husband, Grant, Tommy Byrd and wife, Celina, and Allison Carroll Byrd; her five great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. A ministry of hope and healing for those dealing with addictions is Teen Challenge of Arkansas, her choice of memorials; PO Box 8177, Hot Springs, AR 71902. The family is so appreciative of the many people who helped make it possible for Granny Sue to spend her last years in her own home surrounded by people who love her. Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 10:30 at Harvest Time Assembly Church in Murfreesboro, AR with Brother Jerry Shinn and John Funderburg officiating. Burial will follow in Murfreesboro Cemetery under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home, Murfreesboro, AR. An online sympathy message may be sent to www.latimerfuneralhome.com.
