Lynda Joyce Nutt Corbell
On December 9, 2022 Lynda Joyce Nutt Corbell, devoted wife of Terry and mother of three, passed away peacefully in a local hospital, at the age of seventy-six. Born to WL "Sonny" & Moiviline Harris Nutt on June 16, 1946, in the old Nashville hospital. Lynda spent her life surrounded by family, friends and neighbors in small towns in Arkansas and briefly in Texas.
Lynda grew up in Mineral Springs with her parents and two sisters, Brenda & Denise.
Lynda spent her formative years as a student in the Mineral Springs Public Schools where she formed many long-standing friendships. There she enjoyed playing basketball and cheerleading. She was crowned the MSHS Homecoming Queen of 1963.
After marriage, Lynda and Terry relocated to Longview, Texas and then Ore City, Texas where they made their home until 1973. They then relocated to Foreman, Arkansas where they were active members of First Baptist Church and Lynda played the organ and piano. She made many lifelong friends during her time there.
From an early age, Lynda was a talented instrumentalist and vocalist. She used these talents to enhance the worship services in both First Baptist Church of Foreman, Arkansas as well as Central Baptist Church of Mineral Springs. She played piano or organ in churches for over 49 years.
In December of 2000 Lynda and her husband Terry followed her father and grandfather in business when they acquired Mineral Springs Motor Company aka Sonny's in Mineral Springs. There she worked and served the community for 7 years.
Her grandchildren all have fond memories of the "gem" of a Nana that they all shared. They all enjoyed a good trip to Sonny's, WalMart or The Resale Store, where Nana would buy whatever their hearts desired. She always had a pantry full of the best kids food around and would cook whatever was requested at any time of the day or night. She loved to play board games or go fishing with them.
In her later years she rekindled relationships and spent lots of time with her cousins Betty Feemster and Donna Fricks.
Lynda will be remembered for leaving the scent of Alfred Sung, drinking black coffee, her warm smile and saying "hey babe" whenever she saw any of her kids or grandkids.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Terry Corbell and their three children, nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Sons, Woody Corbell and his wife Sonya of Texarkana, Arkansas, Blake Corbell and his wife Tracy of Wynne, Arkansas, and daughter, Sandy Corbell Smith and her husband James of Ashdown, Arkansas. A visitation with the family will be held at Latimer Funeral Home in Nashville, Arkansas on Monday December, 12 at noon with the service to follow at 1:00. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be made to Wright's Chapel Cemetery, or to Central Baptist Church in Mineral Springs, where Lynda was a longtime member.
Interment will be at Wright's Chapel Cemetery, Lockesburg, Arkansas.
This Christmas, if you see a tree filled with shining bubble lights, think of Lynda. They were her favorite tree decoration and were much like her...bubbly and bright.
