Leverett Raymond Epperson Jr.

Leverett Raymond Epperson Jr., age 89, of Murfreesboro, Arkansas passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024, in New Boston, Texas. He was born on December 21, 1934, in Kilgore, Texas the son of the late Leverett Raymond Epperson Sr. and Anna Belle Hendrickson Epperson.

During his career he began as a self-employed chicken farmer in Highfill, Arkansas. At the age of 28 in 1962 he moved his family to Murfreesboro, Arkansas to serve as a USDA inspector, a job he did for thirty-two years retiring in 1995.

One of his favorite hobbies was fishing. He loved to wade the creeks and sloughs around the Pike County area catching fish. Mr. Epperson was a member of the Christian Educational Ministries, he loved the Senior Citizens Center, and playing chair volleyball.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Okemah Epperson; one son Raymond Epperson III, one brother Lindsey Epperson, and one sister Sue Sullivan.

Survivors include two daughters Vandy Epperson Belasco and husband John of North Little Rock, AR, Kelly Lidzy and husband Bud of Malvern, AR; one son Grady Epperson and wife Kim of Corley, TX; a daughter in law Annette Epperson of Jasper, TN; two sisters Mary Ellen Holland and Kathleen Huelett and husband Gene all of Highfill, AR; ten grandchildren Travis Belasco, Jared Belasco, Casie Yates, Charity Sky-Eagle, Amber Epperson, Emily Epperson, Sidney Foster, Brody Epperson, Blaine Epperson, and Kali Anna Jones. As well as one special friend Crystal White.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 12, at Latimer Funeral Home in Murfreesboro.

Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 12, at Latimer Funeral Home in Murfreesboro, with Buddy Ray officiating, burial will follow in College Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home in Murfreesboro.
