LaVaughn Oni Moye

LaVaughn Oni Moye, age 85, of Hooks, Texas passed away Sunday, January 28, 2024 in Texarkana Texas.  She was born March 12, 1938 in Queen City, Texas the daughter of the late Andrew Bruce and Zora Crummey Moye.

She graduated from Hooks High School the class of 1957, during her time at Hooks she was drum majorette, and played in the band.

Mrs. Moye was a member of First Baptist Church in Hooks, Texas.

She was an animal lover, enjoyed flowers, and designing arrangements for her family and friends.  LaVaughn could have a kind heart and enjoyed visiting with you but make no mistake she would let you know how she truly felt about anything.  She believed in being honest and straight forward with you.

Throughout the years she worked at Dillard’s, Thrifty Nickel, as well as many other places.  She was a candy stripe lady and worked in the gift shop at Wadley Hospital.  LaVaughn always wanted the night shifts in any job she did because she enjoyed visiting with people and getting to sleep in the morning.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Johnson.

Survivors include one daughter Lisa O’Keefe and husband Thomas of Farmerville, LA; two grandchildren Laura Thomas and husband Blake of West Monroe, LA, Chase O’Keefe and wife Amber of Calhoun, LA; four great grandchildren Aubrey, Amelia, Wilder, and Walker; as well as number of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.  Services are under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home in Nashville.
