John Edwin Watson 68 of Nashville, Arkansas passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2015 in Nashville, AR. He was born on March 10, 1947 in Nashville, AR, the son of the late John Rollin Watson and Marie (Hale) Watson. Mr. Watson was a member of the Mineral Springs Church of Christ, the Arkansas State Police Association, and the Arkansas Cattleman's Association. He served thirty six years for the Arkansas State Police, as a Trooper, and nine of those years he served as Post SGT. for Troop G. He was greatly loved by "his guys". He was a model State Trooper who was loved by those who he even gave tickets to and always did so with a smile. For over forty-two years John was a high school basketball referee, one of his proudest accomplishments was serving as a referee in the high school all-star basketball game in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was also a member of the Delight State Champion basketball teams that won the state tournaments his 9th and 11th grade years. He was loved by all who knew him. He loved the Delight Bulldogs, his classmates of 1965, his hometown, the Arkansas Razorbacks, and the Dierks Outlaws. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Clint O'Neal. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Brenda O'Neal Watson of Nashville; four sons, Jordan Watson and wife, Hannah of Nashville, Jonathan Watson and wife, Tammy of Delight, Chris White of Newhope, and Jamie White of Nashville; brother-in-law, Jeff O'Neal and wife, Roni of Prague, OK; brother, Danny Watson, Trish, Kyla, and Kristin Miller of Greenbrier, AR; three grandchildren, Kayla Robinson of Madill, OK, John Paul Watson, of Delight, and Hannah White of New Boston, TX; and one great granddaughter, Abigail Robinson of Madill, OK. two nieces, Leslie Hugo and James of Edmond, OK, Nancy O'Neal of Edmond, OK; two nephews, Shawn O'Neal of Fort Smith, AR, and Ryan O'Neal of Newhope, AR; A host of other relatives and friends mourn his passing. Services will be on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Mineral Springs Church of Christ with Randy Hughes officiating. Burial to follow in Liberty Cemetery in Newhope under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home of Nashville. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
