John Denton Prescott

John Denton Prescott, 72, of McCaskill, AR, died on December 1, 2011 in Hospice Center in Bryant, AR. He was born on May 13, 1939 in McCaskill, AR, the son of the late John Gordon and Vivian (Denton) Prescott. Mr. Prescott was a farmer member of the Arkansas Army National Guard, and member of the Methodist Church in McCaskill, AR. He was a former member of the Blevins School Board, served on the McCaskill Town Council, and was a guide on Millwood Lake for 8 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Kenneth Gordon Prescott, and one brother, Leon Prescott. Survivors include two sons, Johnny Prescott and wife, Hali of Nashville, AR, and Major Michael Chad Prescott and wife, Paula, of Fort Leavenworth, KS; two daughters, Lisa Welch and husband, Dale of Bryant, AR and Marsha Cowling and husband, Ross, of Texarkana, TX; one sister, Carolyn McFadyen and husband, Jim of Farmersville, OH; 8 grandchildren, Shawna Prescott Smith, Alexis Prescott, William Prescott, Jennifer Prescott, Ryan Prescott, Colin Welch, Casey Welch and Jaxson Cowling; and one great grandson, Peyton Smith. Many other relatives and friends mourn his passing. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Sunday, December 4, 2011, at Ridgeway Baptist Church in Nashville, with Bro. Jerry Hill, Bro. Randy Hughes, and Bro. Larry Elrod officiating. Burial will follow at Merrell Cemetery in Belton, AR under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home of Nashville, AR.
