James Lindell May

December 15, 1936 — June 8, 2015

James Lindell May, 78 years old, passed away at home with his family on June 8, 2015. James lived a very full life as a husband, father, and grandfather. He leaves behind his family members and many great friends to mourn his passing. James was preceded in death by his mother, Monnie "Dank" May; his father, Albert Durin "A.D." May; a brother, Winston May; and a beloved son, James "Jim" Lindell May, Jr. He is survived by his beautiful wife and love of his life, Joyce Marie May; a daughter and son-in-law, Ginger May and Lewis Ray Gills; two granddaughters, Jamie-Lynn and Jordan Gills; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. James was born on December 15, 1936, in the community of Bowen, AR, to Dank and A.D. May. James and his wife were married in Tehran, Iran, where James worked as a driller for an oil and gas company called Sedco. James was a 32nd degree master mason and endowed member of the European Shrine Club. James traveled around the world working in multiple countries, including Pakistan, Iran, and Saudi Arabia. He drilled some of the largest producing oil-fields in the world. He was an extremely hard worker who took great pride in his work. When he ended his drilling career, he and his wife returned to Delight, AR, where it all began. There, he continued planting roots for their future, literally. James's strong work ethic kept him busy his entire life. His true passions were working on his tree farm and deer hunting in the woods he worked so hard to grow. James could be found on his dozer working his land or running his blueticks. It is said that, "The true character of a man can be seen by how he treats his dogs," and anyone who knew James will tell you that no one had it better than one of his hounds. James was a man of Christian-faith, good morals and values, and one who spent the entirety of his life preparing for the future of his family. James always put the needs of his family first and foremost, and his legacy will always live on in them and the future generations of his family.
