Jackson Duvall â�œDukeâ Tomerlin, 75 of Nashville, Arkansas, died Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at his home. He was born August 9, 1936 in Fort Worth, Texas, the son of the late Jack Tomerlin and Elois Barnes Tomerlin Freeman. Mr. Tomerlin was an elder at the Blue Bayou Church of Christ and served in the Army Reserve. Duke loved many sports especially basketball. He was a star basketball player and graduate of the Saratoga Bulldogs. He enjoyed watching the Nashville Scrappers and the Arkansas Razorbacks, and loved playing golf with his grandsons. Mr. Tomerlin was an employee of Mountaire Farms for many years, owner operator of Nashville Poultry and Egg, and owned Nashville Realty with his wife, Liz. He was a poultry and cattle farmer which he worked alongside his son Joe Paul for many years. Along with many other achievements in his life he was a Justice of the Peace and served on many boards throughout the Nashville community. Survivors include his wife, which would have been married 55 years on June 1, Elizabeth â�œLizâ Tomerlin, of the home; one son Joe Paul Tomerlin; one daughter Dâ�™Ann Rogers and husband Carl; two grandsons Justin Duke White and wife Lindsey; and Jarrett Rogers, all of Nashville, Arkansas. As well as a number of other relatives and friends Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, January 20, 2012 at the Latimer Funeral Home Chapel in Nashville, with Harley Sisson, Randy Hughes, and Lester Bradley officiating, with burial to follow at County Line Cemetery, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home.
