Horace Jester Cox, age 66, of Murfreesboro, Arkansas, died on Tuesday, September 27, 2011. He was born on December 29, 1944 in Shawmut, AR, the son of the late Horace and Bertha (Carter) Cox. He was a logger and member of the Pike City Missionary Baptist Church in Pike City, AR In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, LaVaughn Cox, Reese Cox, Preston Cox, and Jimmy Wayne Cox; and four sisters, Shirley Fletcher, Jean Logan, Juanita, and Nila. Survivors include: his wife, Hazel Cox of Pike City, AR; two sons, Ricky Cox and wife, Gail of Murfreesboro, and Randy May of Murfreesboro; one step-son, Mark McCarthy and wife, Rechelle of Brantley, AL; one sister, Irene VanCamp of Murfreesboro, AR; five grandchildren, Christopher Cox, Amanda Cox, Austin May, and McKenzie May all of Murfreesboro, AR and Anthony McCarthy of Brantley, AL; and two great grandchildren, Colton Cox and Tyler Cox. Many other relatives and friends mourn his passing. Funeral services will be on Friday, September 30, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at the Pike City Missionary Baptist Church in Pike City, with Brother James Shelby officiating. Burial will follow in Wood Cemetery under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home, Murfreesboro. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
