Gertrude "Gertie" Wakefield

Gertrude â�œGertieâ₝ Wakefield, 95, of Nashville, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2013 in Nashville. She was born on July 25, 1918 in Newhope, AR, the daughter of the late R.A. Young and Hattie Lee (Jeffries) Young. She was a retired lunch room worker for Nashville School and member of the First Baptist Church in Nashville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar; one daughter, Sandra Wakefield; and nine brothers and sisters. She is survived by two sons, Eddie Wakefield of Nashville, and Ricky Wakefield and wife, Betty of Orange, TX; one daughter, Becky Smith of Nashville; nine grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. A host of other relatives and friends mourn her passing. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Nashville with Brother David Blase officiating.
