Emma Dean Boatright

Emma Dean Prince Boatright, 90, died on March 14 ,2015. She was born on December 13, 1924 in Oklahoma the daughter of William and Rose Decker Prince. She was preceded in death by her husband Arlie Boatright, a daughter-in-law Sharon Boatright, a granddaughter Marsha Boatright Hogan, and a great grandson Jeffery Boatright. She is survived by four children: Floyd Eugene Boatright of Tulsa, OK; Jimmy Boatright and Linda of Red Water, TX; Arlene Fugitt and Tommy of Nashville, AR; and Sandy Campbell and Max of Nathan, AR. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren. One special nephew Billy Boatright Two brothers James Prince of OK; Paul Prince of Africa; and one sister Ann Bessler of OK. She had a special care-giver Deloras Marsh. The Boatrights lived in California, Oklahoma, Wyoming, and Georgia before making Murfreesboro home. Dean was a member of the First United Methodist church for over 50 years and was a member of the Cheermakers Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star where she and Arlie served two terms as Worthy Patron and Worthy Matron. She and Arlie also served as Mr. and Mrs. Diamond at the annual diamond festival which was an honor. She was an avid supporter of the Murfreesboro School Band. She and Clora Wylie spent hours making chili and hot chocolate when their children were in school and the band was struggling to buy new uniforms. She served as different officers in the local PTA and was a volunteer for the American Cancer and Heart Associations. She loved to work in her yard and share her various plants. That was her passion. She welcomed all the neighborhood children into her home. The neighborhood kids always knew when she was frying donuts. Her fried pies and strawberry shortcakes were also two of her trademarks. She always baked and took treats to the elderly when she was in her 80s. She was forever young. She was always optimistic and believed in the power of prayer. Her mantra was "One day at a time" Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00, Sunday, March 15 at the Latimer Funeral Home Chapel in Murfreesboro. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, March 16, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. James Wainscott, burial to follow in Murfreesboro Cemetery, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home in Murfreesboro.
