Dorothy Mae Finney Ward

Dorothy Mae Finney Ward, 94 of Pike City, Ar.slipped into her Heavenly Father's arms on Jan. 26 , 2013. She was born Feb. 24, 1918 in Graysonia, Ar. to Idas L. Finney and Dulcie C. Prince Finney. She was the oldest of 9 children. She was a faithful member of Pike City Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, Pike City, Ar., where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years and was well known for her beautiful Alto voice. She was a Nurses Aide at local hospitals and nursing homes, and a wonderful cook and gardener. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 yrs., William Zell Ward; a son, Donald Wayne Ward; a grandson, Richard Allen Ward, a great grandson, Casey Calley; two loving son-in-laws, Estil Morris and JF Miller; 3 brothers, Ralph, JP, and Joe Finney; 3 sisters, Fern Powledge, Marie Parson and Leona Finney. Survivors are 6 children, Wimp (Debbie) Ward of Strong, Ar., Argie Mae Wynn of Nashville, Ar., Richard Leon Ward of Texarkana, Ar., Carolyn Morris of Delight, Ar., Gerald D (Wanda) of Alpine, Ar., and Ronald H (Debbie) Ward of Fort Smith, Ar. , 28 grand children, 56 great grandchildren, and 24 great great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Dale (Pat) Finney of Humble, Tx., and Carmon (Maribeth) Finney of Burkeville, Tx.; 2 sister-in-laws, Charlene Finney of Houston, Tx., and Othell Ward of Murfreesboro, Ar., and a host of loving nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at the Delight First Baptist Church with Brother Larry Welch and Brother Jim Shelby officiating. Burial to follow in pike City Cemetery under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home, Murfreesboro.
