Dorothy Elizabeth Gilbert, 84, of White House, Tenn., passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024, in Nashville, Tenn.

She was born June 15, 1939, in Fashing, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Harmon Gilbert (2020) and her parents Harold Ahrens (1985), and Cora Ahrens (2012). 

Dorothy graduated from Pleasanton High School in Pleasanton, Texas. After graduation she went to a business school in San Antonio and later was employed by USAA in San Antonio. She met Jerry Gilbert at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas, located in San Antonio, Texas. They married in Floresville, Texas, on Sep. 14, 1958. They had 63 wonderful years together in matrimony.

Dorothy is survived by: her two sons and their families, Donald and Stephany Gilbert of Lindale, Texas, and Ronald and Bonnie Gilbert of Cottontown, Tenn.; Her five grandchildren: Valerie and Ryan Anderson of Lindale, Texas; RJ and Amanda Gilbert of White House, Tenn.; Danielle and Jonathon Mallory of Tyler, Texas; Joshua and Madison Gilbert of Lockhart, Texas, and Patricia and Justin Schumacher of Oklahoma City, Okla.

Dorothy is also survived by six great-grandchildren: Emily Anderson and Bethany Anderson of Lindale, Texas; Lux Elwood and Lenz Elwood of Tyler, Texas; Eli Gilbert of White House, Tenn., and Jetti Gilbert of Dublin, Texas. She is also survived by her sister and her family, Sharon and Charles Gustof of White Rock Lake, Texas; a nephew David & Alissa Gustof of Mesquite, Texas, and a niece Pamela and Tommy Cherry of Aurora, Colo.

She is also survived by her two sisters-in-law, Barbara Anderson, Selene McKnight and two brothers-in- law, Billy Gilbert and Bruce Gilbert, all from Nashville, Ark. There is also a host of other nieces and nephews she loved.

Dorothy’s first love was our wonderful Savior, Jesus Christ, and her entire family. Dorothy’s love and dedication to her faith and family were known by all of us. She is dearly missed.
