Dennis Ray â�œPoppyâ McCauley blessed this world on August 3, 1954 in Nashville, AR, the son of Walter McCauley and the late Wendell McCauley. Poppy was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son. He received a second chance at life on March 18, 2004 when Jake Huey gave the ultimate gift of his heart. Dennis received his wings from God on April 3, 2012 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. In the true spirit of his strength, courage, and faith in God, he also gave his ultimate gift of sight by giving his beautiful blue eyes. Thankful that God gave him a second chance, he was a strong supporter of donating the â�œGift of Lifeâ. During the 8 years after his heart transplant, he became passionate about making people aware of the importance of life giving organ donation. Forever grateful to Dr. David Nelson and the transplant team at Integris Baptist Medical Center, Poppy was able to enjoy his reasons for living. Watching his granddaughters grow and become the young ladies they are today. They are the reason he fought for so long. He enjoyed all of their activities and was the true definition of a mentor. He greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with family, and singing with the choir at First Baptist Church where he was a member. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by father-in-law and mother-in-law, Laverne and Ella Mae Hardin; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Hardin. Dennis is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sheila Hardin McCauley of Nashville; two sons, Casey McCauley and wife, Sunne, and Andy McCauley and wife, Alli, both of Nashville; four granddaughters, Lorenn, Emily, Hope, and Sofia; granddog, Gus all of Nashville, AR; and adopted daughter, Brandy Karr of Oklahoma City, OK; adopted sister, Marla Desmukes of Oklahoma City, OK; three sisters, Rosa Deloney and husband, Ronny of Mineral Springs, AR, Sue Quinn and husband, Bobby of Dierks, AR, and Pat Stone and husband, Larry of Hot Springs, AR; five brothers, Hubert Hardin and wife, Virginia of Nashville, Larry Hardin of Nashville, Russell Hardin and wife, Judy of Nashville, Kenny Hardin and wife, Mona of Nashville, and Kirk Hardin of Waynesboro, Georgia; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of family and friends. Family is not defined by blood, but by whom God chooses to bless our lives with and we are grateful to be blessed by many. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church in Nashville with Brother David Blase and Tim Freel, Jr. Burial to follow in Unity Cemetery in Nashville under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home of Nashville.
