Carleton “Buddy” Edgar Denny, Jr., age 84 of Delight, Arkansas, passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at his home. He was born on September 25, 1937 in Delight to the late Carleton Edgar Denny, Sr. and Vahnita McKinney Denny.
Mr. Denny was a member of the Delight United Methodist Church. He was retired from the United States Navy after 26 years of service. He also retired from the public school system as a teacher. Buddy enjoyed woodworking, the outdoors and riding his four-wheeler through the woods. He was also a marathon runner. Buddy enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, helping others and being active in his hometown.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Denny and a son-in-law Jimmy Rather.
Those who survive his passing include his wife Shirley Huffman Denny; two daughters Vickey Rather and Brenda Eatmon and husband Ace; two sisters Kathryn Broussard and husband Rogers and Doris Denny; one sister-in-law Barbara Denny; six grandchildren Kristian Sorensen, Tamara Carpenter, Peter Oakley, Jesse Eatmon, Maria Eatmon and Kent Eatmon; fourteen great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 12, 2021 at the Delight United Methodist Church, with Rev. Jim Henderson officiating. Interment will follow in the Delight Cemetery, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home of Murfreesboro.
Pallbearers include Nicky Denton, Chris Denton, Blake Lockwood, Scott Bailey, Joe House and Brent Alexander. Honorary pallbearers include Jim Lockwood, Paul Mahood, Chester Hutchison and Harley Fraizer.
