Bobbie Doerr Rodgers, 84, of Murfreesboro, Arkansas, entered heaven on August 30, 2022, surrounded by her family, her greatest joy.
Bobbie was born on December 1, 1937, in Plain Dealing, Louisiana, to James Alton and Rena Mae Doerr. She spent her childhood in Plain Dealing, where she graduated from Plain Dealing High School in 1954. She married Carl Beverly Rodgers in 1955, and they settled in Springhill, Louisiana, to raise their family.
Beverly and Bobbie moved to Texas City, Texas, in 1980, where they resided until his death in 1997. Bobbie spent her life as a devoted wife and mother, but also worked in a ladies’ dress shop, a college bookstore and for a cruise line. She was a lover of people and got great enjoyment from her various jobs.
Bobbie loved to dance and was known to do so whenever and wherever she got the urge. She also enjoyed traveling with friends, visiting France, Germany, and Italy, and she would always make a new friend on the airplane. She was an accomplished cook and baker, delighting her family and friends with the best pumpkin rolls, coconut cakes and millionaire candies you’d every taste. But her true legacy was her love of shopping and finding bargains. She taught her daughters and granddaughters one of life’s greatest lessons – if it’s not on sale, don’t buy it!
Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 42years, Carl Beverly Rodgers, and her grandson, Colby Kelly. She is survived by her three daughters, Genyne (Steven) Conly,Kristina Nickerson and Wendy Kelly; as well as her brother Melvin (Glenda) Doerr. Known as Mimi or Mamaw Bobbie, shealso leaves behind five grandchildren, Shelly (Jarrod) Bray, Jenny (Jason) Miller, Matthew (Nichole) Nickerson, Jason (Erin) Nickerson and Shelby Kelly (TJ Salmela); and eightgreat-grandchildren, Eli Perrin, Kate Perrin, Macey Miller, Charlotte Miller, Jackson Nickerson, Knox Nickerson, Max Nickerson and Carly Nickerson.
