Bert Arlis May, 95, of Delight, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his family and friends. He was born on January 14, 1922 in Delight, Arkansas to James Monroe May and Bertie Mae Tyo May. Bert loved the Lord and was active in the Delight United Methodist Church serving as treasurer and board member for many years. Bert was a retired chicken farmer, owner of Sunbeam Egg Farm and Pike County Farm Family of the Year in the late 60's. Bert was in the US Army during WWII serving in the Phillipines. He was preceded in death by his parents, the love of his life, Edith May who he married on June 27, 1943 and who passed away on July 11, 2017. His son, Michael May, 5 brothers, George May, Fred May, Roy May, Raymond May, and Clib May, 2 sisters, Otsy Copeland and Ever Burnham. Bert is survived by his son Charles May and wife Nan of Delight, AR; one grandson Jesse May and wife Beth of Portland, TN; great granddaughters Elise May and Emma May of Portland, TN and host of nieces, nephews and friends. Special caregivers, Kellie Jackson, Angela Jackson, Christina Hill and Janelle Page. Pallbearers will be Jesse May, Charles Juliano Jr., Shane Riggle, Shaun Hill, Brandon Buck, and Chris Hill. Honorary Pallbearers will be Milton Copeland, James May, Jim May, Bill Ludlam, and Chester Jackson. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Saturday, September 16, at the Latimer Funeral Home Chapel in Murfreesboro. Services will be 2:00 P.M., Sunday, September 17, at the Delight United Methodist Church, with Rev. Jim Henderson officiating, burial to follow in Delight Cemetery. Under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home in Murfreesboro. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Delight United Methodist Church or the Delight Cemetery Fund.
