Alma Jean Bates

Alma Jean Bates, 79, of Nashville, died Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at a Nashville hospital. She was born April 11, 1930, at Cross Roads, AR, the daughter of the late Posey and Mary Bissell Neal. She was a member of Life Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Newton Bates, son, Danny Wayne Bates, granddaughter, Lisa Bates Keeney, brother, Walter Neal, two sisters, Amelia Bates and Wilma Springs. Survivors include three sons, Marshall Bates of Nashville, AR, Larry Bates of Rosston, AR and George Bates of Gurdon, AR; three daughters, Marjorie Carpenter of Nashville, AR, Sharon Jester of McCaskill, AR and Betty Wisniewski of Nashville, AR; thirteen grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a host of friends. Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Friday, September 18, at Latimer Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Billy Sanders officiating, burial at Westmoreland Cemetery, Cross Roads.
